A Birth Remembered

33 years ago, I gave birth to Tiffany.
Her birth started Dan and I down a different path. I have always said that Dan and I were pretty "white bread" until that day. Meaning we believed in government, doctors and all societal rules. Not meaning that we don't follow societal rules now. I don't blindly follow anymore. I think and rethink all the time about my course in life. I digress, sort of.
So what could have happened at a birth to cause such a life change?
She was born in the back of any ambulance after being told 5 hours earlier to go home. Because I wasn't near ready to have a baby. The naval hospital at that time had a no admittance policy unless you were 5 centimeters dilated. They had alot of babies born other places during that time period :) But in retrospect, it was lucky for us, in many ways, birthing practices were less than desirable back then. From that point on, we looked into homebirthing. We have had a doctor, a lay midwife and certified nurse midwife attend us at home. We have also had a few hospital births along the way.
So remember your births ladies, think about how they may have formed changes in your life.
